Monster Minders are there for Fido and Fluffy when owners aren’t. They do a lot of walking but are never dog tired
Lindsay and Carrie Maria can hardly go anywhere these days without being recognized.
“We’ll be eating dinner out or walking somewhere, and it feels like we’re always saying, ‘Hi’ to someone,” Lindsay said.
The couple are known throughout Philadelphia, but they aren’t movie stars or famous athletes.

This piece covered the history of how the Monster Milers (our non-profit volunteer shelter dog running group) got started and where we’re headed. We shared the cover with New Orleans’ based Dogs of the 9th Ward, an awesome rescue group who are pulling stray dogs out of the 9th ward, cleaning them up and finding them forever homes. We’re honored to share the spotlight with them!

Owner and Manager of The Monster Minders (Milers) Carrie Maria, was interviewed and featured in Publicity to the Rescue, by Susan C. Daffron. The book chronicles different ways animal advocates can fire up the public about animal rescue, lure passionate volunteers, increase donations and move more pets into loving homes. Carrie was included in a section covering ways to tap into non-conventional volunteer bases and most directly, her work on connecting the running community in Philadelphia with Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society. The book is available in paperback through amazon.com.
