Every now and again, things change. We have always loved our logo but recently we decided to freshen it up a bit. (Our previous logo had been in circulation since 2008-ish?) For the last few weeks Lindsay (co-founder of the company) has been doing revision after revision for a logo that is still recognizable as "ours" but just a tiny bit fresher. (I insisted that the yellow flower stayed.)

What do you think?

Every year we take our own two dogs to Beaver Island (Lake Michigan) to visit family. Our family has been going to Beaver Island in the Summers for generations now and we've brought quite a few dogs with us over the last few decades. Here are some of our favorite shots of Jax and Lola on our 2018 trip. (Vacationing with dogs is the best!)

Covered in sand, happy as ever!

Now that she's an "old lady," Lola's favorite activity is napping on warm sand.

Jax goes for gold, jumping off a dune!

Taking a hiking break on a sand dune.

Does anyone really have time to add more to-do's during the holiday season? That's a big fat NOPE! For this reason, it has become a tradition to do our staff "holiday" party AFTER the holidays. We've done lots of fun stuff from Barcade to Escape the 80's (which is HIGHLY recommended for group fun!)

For years we have walked by The Expressive Hand pottery painting studio in Bella Vista and never thought to check it out. I'm so glad we did! We ordered pizza, brought wine and beers, and all just hung out for three hours while painting pottery. Minders got...

On Sunday, I had the honor of doing a TEDx talk at Arcadia University.  The talk centered around business, self care and the formation of our non-profit organization, The Monster Milers.

Check it out here.

We try to do fun things with our staff from time to time (that don't involve dog walking) and we

couldn't help but notice the "Escape the 1980's" building on Passyunk Avenue.  Maybe you've wondered what it is too!  It's a "room escape."  Essentially you're "locked" in a room full of clues and you have to figure out how to get out of the room by finding various clues.  Normally you're timed on your "escape" and you compete with other teams.

In the Spring, we divided the entire staff into two teams and battled it out.  I don't want to gi...

Each year we give a little something back to local non-profits and rescue groups on behalf our clients instead of gifts.  In the past we have donated to PAWS, Red Paw, MANNA, Street Tails, etc.

This year we decided to donate to our intake shelter, Animal Care and Control Team (ACCT).  We sent a $1000 donation to ACCT, which handles over 30,000 homeless pets each year.  In the last decade, Philly's intake shelter has done a 180 in terms of save rates, and they do so on a shoestring budget compared to other shelters in comparable metro areas.  Ev...

You may be wondering why a dog walking service choses to take a stand on an issue such as marriage equality and LGBT rights.  What does it have to do with dogs?

A few weeks ago, on June 26, 2015, the Supreme Court announced that everyone in the United States had the right to marry.   Ten years ago, in 2005, we added “Rainbow Spot” to our website.  It was a move that we knew could cost us potential clients, but we felt in our heart of hearts, was the “right thing to do.” And sometimes, you just have to do what’s right, not what’s (at that time) the mos...

Lindsay and I got married for a second a time last May.  Well, it wasn’t a legitimate wedding, in that it held no legal power.  We had already been married for nearly ten years.  You see, back in 2004, we eloped at the county courthouse.  Lindsay and I met in New Zealand and when you hold a different passport from the person you love, things can get very tricky in terms of actually staying in the same country.  We hopped between countries for a few years.  I spent a semester studying abroad there, he followed me here while I finished up my degree, we...

We loved our old website.  We're DIYers over here at The Monster Minders, so it was hard to let go of it.   But we wanted something a bit cleaner and it was time to freshen up after a few years.  (New season and all of that jazz.)  We're launching it on May 1st, 2015 and we will have some udpates to do in the upcoming weeks.  (We still have more Testimonials to transfer over and we need to update the Resouces pages, but we have the framework ready for everyone.)   Phew!  It took quite a bit of time, but we really dig it.  (We hope you do too!)...
