A few months ago, Minder Shannon found a pup running on the streets of South Philly. The pup was underweight and had matted fur (that had to be shaved off. See below.) Shannon posted her to all of the local boards / shelters and after a few days it became apparent that her old owners were not actively looking for her. Minder Nikki immediately stepped up to foster her and we all knew what was coming. (Because Nikki is an absolute sucker for feisty, little pups.)

Nikki named her Chicken and gave her a forever home. We sent Nikki and her wife, C...

Does anyone really have time to add more to-do's during the holiday season? That's a big fat NOPE! For this reason, it has become a tradition to do our staff "holiday" party AFTER the holidays. We've done lots of fun stuff from Barcade to Escape the 80's (which is HIGHLY recommended for group fun!)

For years we have walked by The Expressive Hand pottery painting studio in Bella Vista and never thought to check it out. I'm so glad we did! We ordered pizza, brought wine and beers, and all just hung out for three hours while painting pottery. Minders got...

We love offering our employees a chance to learn more about dogs. We spend all day with dogs, but there is ALWAYS more to learn. Ongoing education for our staff allows us to offer our clients a better service and keeps us on top of our game! Thankfully, WAG (Whole Animal Gym) sees the benefit of ongoing training too and offered to host our entire staff for a presentation on spotting and treating pain in pets.

What is WAG? WAG is "Philly's first & finest specialized veterinary care facility focusing on rehabilitation, pain management & fitness."...

Eric sent us an email saying, "Though they gave the cover to Arundhati Roy, for some strange reason, I'm in this month's Poets and Writers." (We hope that someday Eric will be on the cover of Poets and Writers.) He was given recognition for his poem, "Smoke" which was featured in the Fall 2016 issue of Michigan Quarterly Review.

Many congrats to Minder Eric for this honor!

Summer can always be a challenging time for our City’s intake shelter, Animal Care and Control Team (ACCT).   ACCT is required to take in every stray and surrendered animal.  During periods of high intake, it can mean that adoptable dogs are at risk simply because our shelter doesn’t have enough kennels.

Jenna and her partner stepped up a few months ago to foster a sweet dog named Anita.  She was suffering from mange (a treatable skin condition that causes hair loss), had just had a litter of puppies before she was abandoned at the sh...

Lindsay and I got married for a second a time last May.  Well, it wasn’t a legitimate wedding, in that it held no legal power.  We had already been married for nearly ten years.  You see, back in 2004, we eloped at the county courthouse.  Lindsay and I met in New Zealand and when you hold a different passport from the person you love, things can get very tricky in terms of actually staying in the same country.  We hopped between countries for a few years.  I spent a semester studying abroad there, he followed me here while I finished up my degree, we...

When Maida told us she was heading to Wisconsin to plant trees for a long weekend, we had to get more details.  We were gobsmacked when she said that she and her family planted 5,000 trees on their family’s property.  She says, “The main reason my dad wanted to do this was to reduce his carbon footprint and help the earth.  Within the last few years my parents have made improvements to their house to go green like switching out their furnace and air-conditioner with a geo-thermal heating/cooling system so all these trees were just another step.”  H...

Many of our Minders have side projects going on and Minder Matt has been painting up a storm lately!  He has started to accept commissions for dog portraits, so if you're looking for something a bit unique, give him a buzz to discuss options.

He recently completed this portrait of Zola, one of our afternoon dog walking clients.  Her parents are absolutely thrilled.  Matty is notorious for leaving awesome drawings for his clients in his daily notes, so it didn't come as a surprise to us that it might evolve to this!   And a beautiful evolution it is....
