I’m a dog lover. My life revolves around dogs. I make a living working with dogs. As a company we have completed over half a million LEASHED dog walks in the City. And we are HUGE leash advocates. Why?

Let’s start with the basics. Dogs are animals. Even if your dog is a wiz at verbal commands, recalls without fail and is and a certified therapy dog, your dog is still an animal. And while you think your dog is predictable, they can be u...

One of the great things about Philly is that you don't have to travel far to take your pups for an adventure. Last weekend we took our own dog Jax to John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge for a wander around the wetlands as signs of Spring were starting to emerge. We saw loads of turtles, birds and even a few fish jump right out of the water. Even though the parking lot was packed (it was the first warm weekend of the Spring), there are enough miles of trails that we didn't feel like we were right on top of other hikers/fishers/birdwatchers/dog walkers...

Oh, city dog owners. You think we have good dog parks in Center City Philadelphia? Sure. We do. (For a City.) But take a 20 minute drive into New Jersey and be prepared to have your mind blown by Timber Creek Dog Park. We took our pups there for the first time this Summer and I can't believe we've been missing out on this gem.

It's a whopping 128 acres of doggy paradise. Nine of the wooded acres are completely fenced in. Yes, you read that correctly. NINE ACRES. It's almost completely shaded by trees which is perfect in the hot Summer months. The fence...

What if dog owners could help tackle Philly's litter problem? Ok, so hear me out on this one. It's long documented that we have litter issues in Philly. Some neighborhoods are better than others and it can be blamed on everything from lack of street sweeping, lack of public trashcans, people who put recycling out in paper bags that break apart and become litter bombs with the slightest wind gust (use plastic bins!) to people who frankly don't care and litter at will. We know what causes it, a lot of us feel that the City isn't doing enough to combat...

On Sunday, I had the honor of doing a TEDx talk at Arcadia University.  The talk centered around business, self care and the formation of our non-profit organization, The Monster Milers.

Check it out here.

Did you know that every dog in Philadelphia is required by law to be licensed but less than 20% are?  Is your pup licensed?  If so, great!  If not, what are you waiting for?  (You probably didn't know it was a requirement.  It's not well publicized, don't worry.  You're not alone!)

Licenses are only $16 for a spayed/neutered dog.  On ACCT's (Animal Care and Control Team) website you can easily renew or purchase your license.  You’ll receive a tag in the mail from ACCT for your pup’s collar in case he/she goes missing.  We recom...

Summer can always be a challenging time for our City’s intake shelter, Animal Care and Control Team (ACCT).   ACCT is required to take in every stray and surrendered animal.  During periods of high intake, it can mean that adoptable dogs are at risk simply because our shelter doesn’t have enough kennels.

Jenna and her partner stepped up a few months ago to foster a sweet dog named Anita.  She was suffering from mange (a treatable skin condition that causes hair loss), had just had a litter of puppies before she was abandoned at the sh...

A few days ago we were sent this scary tale from one of our clients:  “We are switching leashes permanently. I have been using a retractable leash, and yesterday we had a very scary incident where Zorra could of been severely injured after darting into a very bust street of South Philly. She got loose from my grip because she got spooked by a loud noise, the sound of the retractable leash handle hitting the ground freaked her out so bad that she darted and the vicious cycle began of her running, and the leash banging on the ground.”

Retractables are s...
