Lily and the Octopus - Book Review

So, everyone always asks the same question about a dog-book. "Does the bad thing happen at the end?" Well, without giving much away, you'll know from the first few pages if "it" is gonna happen. And really, does that stop us from reading the great dog-books?

​​Lily and the Octopus was quite possibly unlike any dog-book I've ever read. For sure, it included all of the tear-inducing, I've-been-there moments that come with the territory, but it tells the story of a man's love for his dog (and the greif that all dog owners eventually face) in a way that is unlike any other book I've read. It's imaginative, it's sensitive, it's bold. Oh and Lily (the dog) plays monopoly! (And there is a vindictive, cold-hearted octopus.)

I read it, and then immediately told my husband he had to read it. I'd constantly ask him, "What part are you at?"

"OHhhhhhhh the sharks!"

Will you cry? Probably.

Will it be worth it? Definitely.
