By now, it should come as no surprise that I am indeed a crazy animal lady.  When it comes to noses that need booping and ears that need scratching, I do not discriminate based on size, species or friendliness.  Surprisingly, this approach to critters has kept me mostly unscathed. So when I discovered the South Philly TNR group on Facebook (Trap, Neuter, Release) I just had to join.  I figured that I spent a lot of time outside so I could easily keep an eye out for strays or ferals that need to be fixed. (I also walk around with a bag of kitten fo...

Whew!  Now that I got the title out of the way, I can really get down to the nitty gritty of being a dog walker now.  I am 4 days into TMM closing down because of the restrictions dictated by Governor Wolf. It is a bit scary because we don’t know how well social distancing is working (or if it’s being taken seriously) and if we will be up and running after the 2 weeks or if it's going to be longer.  Our clients have been amazing and keeping our spirits up in this crazy time and for that we are forever grateful. But I am not here to write about fear or...

As of last Monday, March 16, The Monster Minders has been closed until further notice. (We absolutely plan on jumpstarting services as soon as it's safe to do so.)

We are complying with the City's mandate to close all non-essential businesses. To our clients, we know we are essential, but the unfortunate truth is "pet care services" in the face of a killer like Covid-19 is not considered essential.

We need to do our part to Flatten the Curve and keep our employees, our clients and our community safe. One of our core values is "Safety First" and this fal...

All active clients have been emailed our preparedness statement about how we're approaching the next few weeks as COVID19 comes to Philly. If you are an active client, please check your inbox for an update from us (dated March 10th). We will be updating clients via email about any schedule changes or protocols in place, so please watch your inbox regularly.

This is an uncertain time for us as a nation. We’re taking it one day at a time and we thank you for your patience as we work through a completely new experience for us as a small business.

Wash your...

Often I find myself questioning whether or not it is worth it to keep all of the cable that I currently have with my subscription.  I am a big football fan and I definitely wouldn't want to miss any of my beloved Eagles’ games. (If you prick me, do I not bleed green?)  However, this week I realized something that I never fully realized before. With my sports package I get to see something almost as great as an Eagles playoff game: The Westminster Dog show!

Just in case you were all wondering if us dog-walkers get our fill of dogs while...

By now, many of us have heard of the most endearing law of all lands; that it is, in fact, illegal to own just one Guinea Pig in Switzerland! Despite their historically ambivalent approach to international affairs, (History Dad Joke inserted here!) their laws for animal welfare are quite firm. In 2008, it became the law that these chittering little pig fluffs (scientific term) must have a friend because they are pack animals and would get lonely otherwise. Taking this law and its worldwide adorability ramifications, and coupling it with the characteri...

In late October Manager Nikki put together an epic scavenger hunt for our employees. 12 of us zoomed around Philly on an adventure that included: poop bag dispersers, hidden tennis balls at a dog park, Philly-famous filming locations ("I see dead people!"), hundreds of glow sticks, and Gritty.

We have the BEST crew and are so grateful for Nikki’s creativity and dedication to our giggles.

Curious about the outcome?

Yellow team won (Carrie, Zoe, Kerri and Kyle) even though the green team tried to cheat! (Lindsay, Sarah, Emily) by following yellow team to a...

Winter is coming. Here are some quick tips for keeping your monster safe!

Protect those paws: Slushy, icy and salty sidewalks can be a nightmare for sensitive paws. Consider using topical products specifically formulated for paw protection or grab a pair of booties. (And be sure to have your phone ready to get video of your pups first steps in booties. Trust us.)

Clean paws: After a walk on salty sidewalks, consider wiping down paws with a damp paper towel or paw wipes to remove chemical residue that can lead to irritation.

Limit exposure for older an...

Every now and again, things change. We have always loved our logo but recently we decided to freshen it up a bit. (Our previous logo had been in circulation since 2008-ish?) For the last few weeks Lindsay (co-founder of the company) has been doing revision after revision for a logo that is still recognizable as "ours" but just a tiny bit fresher. (I insisted that the yellow flower stayed.)

What do you think?

The 501c3 dog rescue organization (The Monster Milers) we founded has been featured in Philadelphia magazine this month! (The Monster Milers pairs adoptable dogs at local animal shelters with volunteer runners for running adventures while they await adoption.)

Caroline Cunningham joined our running group earlier in the Summer for a group run from Philadelphia Runner with Babe, an adoptable pup from Street Tails Animal Rescue. (Babe was adopted a few days after this run took place!)

She says, "I’ll be the first to admit that I take a pretty selfish appro...
