In late October Manager Nikki put together an epic scavenger hunt for our employees. 12 of us zoomed around Philly on an adventure that included: poop bag dispersers, hidden tennis balls at a dog park, Philly-famous filming locations ("I see dead people!"), hundreds of glow sticks, and Gritty.

We have the BEST crew and are so grateful for Nikki’s creativity and dedication to our giggles.

Curious about the outcome?

Yellow team won (Carrie, Zoe, Kerri and Kyle) even though the green team tried to cheat! (Lindsay, Sarah, Emily) by following yellow team to a...

Winter is coming. Here are some quick tips for keeping your monster safe!

Protect those paws: Slushy, icy and salty sidewalks can be a nightmare for sensitive paws. Consider using topical products specifically formulated for paw protection or grab a pair of booties. (And be sure to have your phone ready to get video of your pups first steps in booties. Trust us.)

Clean paws: After a walk on salty sidewalks, consider wiping down paws with a damp paper towel or paw wipes to remove chemical residue that can lead to irritation.

Limit exposure for older an...

Every now and again, things change. We have always loved our logo but recently we decided to freshen it up a bit. (Our previous logo had been in circulation since 2008-ish?) For the last few weeks Lindsay (co-founder of the company) has been doing revision after revision for a logo that is still recognizable as "ours" but just a tiny bit fresher. (I insisted that the yellow flower stayed.)

What do you think?

The 501c3 dog rescue organization (The Monster Milers) we founded has been featured in Philadelphia magazine this month! (The Monster Milers pairs adoptable dogs at local animal shelters with volunteer runners for running adventures while they await adoption.)

Caroline Cunningham joined our running group earlier in the Summer for a group run from Philadelphia Runner with Babe, an adoptable pup from Street Tails Animal Rescue. (Babe was adopted a few days after this run took place!)

She says, "I’ll be the first to admit that I take a pretty selfish appro...

This blog post was originally included as an article in the Bella Vista Neighbors Association's Summer 2019 Newsletter.

I’m a dog lover. My life revolves around dogs. I make a living working with dogs. As a company we have completed over half a million LEASHED dog walks in the City. And we are HUGE leash advocates. Why?

Let’s start with the basics. Dogs are animals. Even if your dog is a wiz at verbal commands, recalls without fail and is and a certified therapy dog, your dog is still an animal. And while you think your dog is predictable, they can be u...

Some of our fans may know that we founded The Monster Milers back in 2011. It's a 501c3 volunteer and dog rescue organization that connects Philly runners with homeless pups in shelters for running adventures while the pups await adoption. (And some of the pups get adopted by said runners or become foster homes for our partner shelters.) Our own dog, Jax was a "Miler dog." And our late dog, Lola was the inspiration for the Milers becuase she could run, and run, and run, and run, and then take a drink of water and run some more. One day as I was runni...

We would be lost without our fabulous assistant manager Nikki Rockwell. This month marks her seventh year with our company.

Things we love about her:

* She does a killer icebreaker at staff meetings. Even when staff roll their eyes at yet another icebreaker, by the end of it, everyone is giggling.

* She's a invaluable back-up. When we need to leave town for vacation, we leave the business in her capable hands, completely confident that she has it under control.

* She is one of the most compassionate people we know.

* She appreciates Tevas. (You know you...

I'm not going to do that thing that recipe writers do in which I tell you a story about my Aunt's second cousin's dog who was originally from Switzerland and only ate carrots and peanut butter so she created this recipe for him (and then make you scroll through link ads you'll accidentally click on and curse at.)

We made Jax a birthday cake and we thought we should share the recipe with you! We adapted it from a simple one here to shorten the bake time and work with what we already had in the house. And Jax's verdict? Delicious!

One of the great things about Philly is that you don't have to travel far to take your pups for an adventure. Last weekend we took our own dog Jax to John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge for a wander around the wetlands as signs of Spring were starting to emerge. We saw loads of turtles, birds and even a few fish jump right out of the water. Even though the parking lot was packed (it was the first warm weekend of the Spring), there are enough miles of trails that we didn't feel like we were right on top of other hikers/fishers/birdwatchers/dog walkers...

We always try to do something fun for our holiday party (and we do our holiday party in January after the crazy season. Who needs one more event in December?) This year we took the staff to MindEscape. (We had a blast a few years back at Escape the 80's on Passyunk!)

This room escape did NOT disappoint. Because the venue has two rooms that can be booked at the same time, the staff split up and decided if they'd rather go through a "Jack the Ripper" themed room or "Escape a Thai Prison." I was in the prison group and it was a freaking blast! I won't giv...
